The Center holds a virtual symposium on the occasion of World Day to Combat Dust Storms
The Center, represented by the Regional Center for Dust and Sand Storm Warning, will hold a virtual symposium tomorrow (Thursday) entitled (Dust and sand storms in the Middle East... the latest scientific research and proposed solutions), on the occasion of the World Day for Combating Dust and Sand Storms, which falls on Friday, July 12 of each year.
The symposium aims to shed light on aspects of combating dust and sand storms, especially in the Arabian Gulf region, and introduce the work, activities and programs of the Regional Center, while presenting scientific and educational programs and activities with the aim of raising public awareness of the importance of combating these storms and highlighting the negative effects of this phenomenon on health, economic sectors and social impacts. The symposium reviews the Kingdom’s efforts in confronting dust and sand storms and reducing their negative effects, and the role of the Saudi Green Initiative in this by planting 10 billion trees throughout the Kingdom, and the impact of spreading natural reserves that contributed to preventing overgrazing and logging, in addition to the contribution of successive rainy seasons to the spread of Vegetation.
Scientists from within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and from Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Turkey and Iran, in addition to officials and experts from the World Meteorological Organization and the World Food and Agriculture Organization, will participate in the symposium to discuss the importance of combating dust storms and confronting their negative effects on various sectors.
